Portrait Painting Physical Medium #1

So starts my first venture into traditional medium painting in over 20 years.

I've been thinking about getting into traditional medium for a while now if only for the fun of it. I considered oil paint, acrylic and watercolour as well as pastels and crayons. My first challenge was were to get them. There's no art supplies shop close to me which means I can only get them from online stores, most of which with no guarantee that they're legit.

I finally settled for trying out markers for because I see myself more of a pick and paint and not all that colour mixing palette stuff.

Here's what I did. Yes I botched her nose. I clicked on the paper a few times trying to undo but mistakes are permanent.,,😂. It goes against my usual process of "do it first and if it doesn't work, try again," coz here I have to commit to every decision. There's definitely a lot to learn. I noted I'm not using the right paper making strokes bleed and not run smoothly on the surface... There's a lot but it's still fun, I intend to continue.

Doesn't look so bad from far

Look how bad it bleeds into the back
